SOAK IN SUNLIGHT

Marie Gallery 5 - Malta

Oct 24 – Nov 14 2024

This collection invites viewers to embrace the beauty of nature and the calming power it holds. Rooted in the belief that beauty can ground and restore us, the works frame elements like the horizon, the sea, and the ever-changing sky, creating moments of stillness in our busy lives.

Drawing attention to the fleeting colours of sunrise and sunset, Aprille encourages a shift in focus—prioritising nature's quiet, expansive presence as a source of calm and connection. By engaging with these works, viewers are offered a space for reflection, a chance to reset, and an opportunity to rediscover joy in the simplicity of the natural world.

Capturing Wind

RLR Yachting – Malta

Oct 14 – 28, 2024

Inspired by childhood memories of windsurfing and sailing, the Capturing Wind series transforms the invisible force of the wind into visible expressions of movement and grace. The wind, a source of joy and wonder for Aprille, reveals itself in her work through its transformative effects on the world—filling sails, carving across the sea, and shaping fleeting moments of beauty.

Each piece in the series is screen-printed on recycled sails, adding another layer of connection to the wind and sea. By repurposing these materials, Aprille captures not only the essence of movement but also the stories carried by the sails themselves. Her prints distil ephemeral gestures, freezing the fluidity of the wind into elegant, static forms.

Between Layers

Arts on Main – Gloucester VA, USA

March 2023

In 2022, Aprille Zammit travelled from Malta to Gloucester, Virginia, to collaborate with her grandmother, Rose, on Between Layers. This body of work merges their unique approaches—Rose starting with colour and Aprille with composition—into harmonious, multi-layered pieces designed to spark joy and lightness in the viewer.

Their collaboration reflects a bond built over 25 years, beginning with Aprille’s childhood in Rose’s studio. Drawing from those experiences, Aprille layered her lines and shapes over Rose’s paintings, creating a seamless dialogue between their styles. Using acrylic pens and screen printing techniques, the works celebrate the vibrant interplay of colour, composition, and connection, honouring their shared history and creative synergy.
